I have been athletic ever since I was a kid. But at the age of 24 yrs old, I made a decision to get rid of my thin boyish frame, start lifting weights, get myself some muscles and become a man. I first started weight training in my backyard until I had developed what I felt to be enough of a shape to finally join a gym. It was a slow process and muscle gains didn’t come easily. But I felt better and could see the difference, even if nobody else could. I stayed consistent and went from 145 lbs up to 180 lbs over the next 4 years gaining primarily muscle mass! What a change! I could now bench press 325 lbs and I looked like it!

In a desire to drop some bulk, define my muscle tone, and once again change my body shape, I began increasing my cardio vascular exercise. I started jogging and spinning and gradually built up enough endurance to run the City of Los Angeles Marathon. That’s 26.2 miles and I was in good enough condition to decide on Friday to run the race that Sunday. I finished with a time of 4 hr 10 minutes, now weigh 160 lbs, and maintain 10% body fat.

Along the way, I have trained with numerous well-educated personal trainers and friends as I have learned many different training techniques in order to meet a variety of different body and fitness goals. I have made a lifelong commitment to live an active life of health and fitness and to make a living training others by sharing all that I have learned. I have had the privilege of assisting people in meeting their fitness goals, improving their health, and achieving their ideal body shape for over 15 years now and I will continue for the rest of my life. Physical fitness and training has long since become part my lifestyle and who I am. I am now here to help you achieve ALL of your Fitness Goals and share the fitness expertise that I have developed thru these many the years.

July 5th, 2005, another 4th of July weekend in the books. As I walked down the hall I got a good look at myself in the full-length mirror in the hall, not just a casual glance but that hardcore reality check. There I stood 39 years old and 228lbs. What happened to that chiseled physique I had 18 years ago? What happened to that physique built by the Marine Corps.

That is definitely not what I saw that morning in July when I looked in the mirror. Thousands of burgers, fries, and shakes later, I saw only a remnant of that proud Marine I was many years before. I was getting ready to turn 40 and definitely looking it. Then something happened, for just a split second I believed I could be that again. That's all it took.

I spent my 20's in the health club business and even though I was around fitness all the time I lived on a 50lb roller coaster. I was either in great shape, waiting for the day I couldn't maintain my grueling 3-hour workouts, or I was on the gaining cycle where my clothes gradually became tighter and tighter, leaving whatever designer I was currently wearing embedded in my waistband. My daily mantra was: " Today is the day I'll start exercising and eating right." No matter where I was, I was in a world of shame.

On July 5th 2005 I put down the fork. I made a promise to give myself “six pack abs” for my 40th birthday. I took 20+ years of experience in the fitness industry and went to work. I promised myself three things; no compulsive training, no starvation, and I would not quit. Over 6 months, I lost 50 lbs and another 8 lbs in the following 2 months. At no time during that period did I spend more than 90 minutes day training. I averaged between 45 minutes to an hour 5 days a week. I never skipped a meal, after the first 30 days never felt hungry. It has completely changed my life. I will never tell anyone there is a quick fix, because there isn't. I spent the better part of 20 years relying solely on my sense of humor and quick wit to meet people. And more importantly not let you see how miserable and ashamed I was underneath. I didn't go on a diet, or start a workout program. I adopted a new lifestyle and worked it from the inside out. Today I enjoy my life, have plenty of energy and best of all I get the opportunity to share my experience with others. I get to take my new lifestyle and use it to support myself. What a gift. If you are willing to give yourself the gift of just an hour a day and change the way you eat you can TRANSFORM your life. Believe me it's worth it!!! If you have experienced similar challenges and want similar results, then let us show you how.

P.S. I turned 40 May 23rd 2006 and that six-pack I promised myself turned 40 with me.

It is my belief that any individual can attain the body they desire as long as they are prepared to work for it. Although I have always been athletic, I had a very hard time achieving any sort of muscle definition. I really wanted that “cut look” that I saw with other women in the gym.

A few years ago while training at a gym back east I met some women who were training for a figure competition. With some coaxing, they convinced me to compete. I hired a trainer who gave me both exercise and diet plans and I stuck to it! His daily guidance and support kept me motivated and before I knew it I was achieving real results. I saw new definition in my shoulders, triceps and biceps along with slimming of my inner and outer thighs. I couldn’t believe that the simple weight training and diet modifications were the missing link for me in attaining the body I always wanted! I competed in several natural figure competitions and consistently placed in the top 4. With hard work and dedication came real results that can last a lifetime.

I believe that fitness is a long-term commitment to oneself that provides self-esteem, happiness, and overall wellness. You can’t get these things from a quick fix diet or the next best piece of fad exercise equipment. At Blue Clay Fitness, we are very aware of the fact that everyone has different health & fitness goals. I am committed to helping you set individual goals and then utilizing proven training techniques to assist you in achieving those goals. I know YOU CAN whether you believe it or not!

Although there are many things that interest me in life, fitness has always been at the forefront. Starting out at age six I began to take gymnastics classes. I enjoyed the exercise and loved tumbling, balancing, and dancing. Soon I joined the Sports Acrobatic team and participated in my first International meet in Australia at the age of nine. Later I became part of a mixed pair and won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Poland. During my gymnastics career I met and worked with famed coach Bela Karoli, toured with top gymnasts in exhibitions across the U.S.A., and performed in nine countries.

When my competition days came to a close I knew that I wanted to embark on a career that focused on my love of fitness and exercise. I became certified with ISSA as a personal trainer. Besides my certification, I personally enjoy yoga, pilates, and strength training. I realized that I would enjoy helping others set and achieve their fitness goals. A balanced life includes family, spiritual and mental health, along with physical health. Taking proper care of your body through exercise and nutrition is important part of everyone’s life, and I am excited to be able to work closely with people and help them appreciate the joys of physical fitness.
